Alter Entertainment Wins Contest for the Best Start-Up Story
When the Vancouver dot-com community gathered together on a balmy August evening for the Netcache Start-Up Story Contest, they knew that they would be hearing many tales of blood, sweat and tears. But only one company had a tale to tell that involved real blood and left real, visible battle scars.
Alter Entertainment principles Jeanne Harco and Paul Armstrong were excited after their inital meeting with Blast Radius regarding a contract to produce five videos for a website for the launch of Nintendo's new video game Zelda, Majora's Mask. But two days after the meeting, Paul Armstrong found himself in hospital with acute apendicitis!
For the next week, Jeanne Harco negotiated the contracts, budgets, cast and crew lists and scripts with the client between trips to the hospital for conferences with Paul. While the contract went forward and the crew was being assembled, Paul recouperated and when the day of shooting arrive, Paul was able to walk again and the production went off without a hitch.
Needless to say, this story, combined with a demonstration of Paul's freshly sewn stomach scar, won Alter Entertainment the grand prize in this contest, which included a brand new Palm Pilot with expandable keyboard.
